Showcase beautiful crackles to impress

Imagine hosting a dinner party or a tea party with your friends and family or trying to unwind after a stressful day at work. You are looking for the ultimate tea experience with the most decadent flavors and aromas. As you are bringing out your best tea to brew and you realize that you don’t have the right teapot to brew the tea. Just then, you wish you’ve had one “teaware to impress” or treat yourself that is unique and also perfect for brewing different types of tea.

This elegant handmade gaiwan is the “teaware to impress.” Designed by a famous ceramic artist Xu Xiaofeng, this one-of-a-kind gaiwan has beautiful crackles that create its distinctive aged look. You can showcase your tea brewing skills while enjoying the nuances of the aroma captured under the gaiwan lid.

As a bonus, customers love the way its smooth texture feels on your hand when brewing. The lid also sits much below the rim so that your fingers can stay away from the heat of hot water. This modern antique also changes in color over time as you brew more tea. All crackles are naturally formed and unique to each piece.

For a complete experience, pair this gaiwan with our Handmade Crackle Teacup.

About Ceramic Artist Xu Xiaofeng

With nearly 20 years of experience in ceramic design and creation, Xu Xiaofeng is critically acclaimed in the ceramic art community. Originally from Dehua, a county famous for its Blanc de Chine in central Fujian province, Xu grew up deeply influenced by the ceramics culture. He began his career as an apprentice at a porcelain factory in Dehua and trained in ceramics production. As he became interested in the development and creation of enamel works later in his career, he went to Henan, the origin of the kiln, to better understand the enamel culture, and went to Taiwan to work with contemporary artists on enamel production. Today, he is known for his unique high-quality enamel works.

After Use  Clean with hot water to clean as crackle glaze is more delicate than regular ceramic glazes. To remove stain, use baking soda and water.

Only use the teaware to serve tea.

    The best gaiwan I've used

I love this gaiwan, and couldn't imagine not having it. It pours like a dream and holds the ideal amount (150ml) If I had to give it one critique it's that the border is a bit thin which makes it slightly uncomfortable to hold because the heat gets transferred to it as well as making it prone to chipping which mine did after it clinked the lid of my teapot. Either way I love it enough to buy another.

    Dear Rachmael -

Thank you for sharing your feedback about our gaiwan. We're delighted to hear that it's the best one you've used and an indispensable part of your tea journey.

Your appreciation for the gaiwan's pouring ability and the ideal size it holds (150ml) is great to hear. We understand your concern about the rim being a bit thin, which can sometimes transfer heat and make it prone to chipping. We'll certainly take this into consideration for future product improvements.

We truly appreciate your loyalty and your willingness to continue with another gaiwan from us. If you have any questions or need assistance in the future, please feel free to reach out. Your support means a lot to us, and we look forward to being a part of your tea experiences.

    Warm regards,
    Mansa Tea Team

    Absolutely Beautiful

This is an incredible piece of functional ceramic art. Not only is it stunning visually, it has a wonderful satin-like feel to it that makes it very comfortable to hold and a joy to touch. The pour from it is perfect.

If you've been hesitant to use a gaiwan regularly because of sloppy pours or burning your fingers, this one will alleviate all that doubt. It has instantly become my go-to daily gaiwan, which is fantastic because I can't wait to watch the cracks get stained over time with tea, making the piece even more special, unique, and custom to me.
