"I am new to aged tea. Which tea do you recommend?"

We get this question a lot, and our Everyday Aged Tea is the answer to get you started on your aged tea journey. These teas of great value will supplement your daily tea ritual as you develop a palate for aged tea.

Everyday Raw Pu-erh (2007): Naturally fermented tea from Menghai, Yunnan province, aged 16 years. Mellow and full-bodied with a long finish. Also great for meditation and focus and as a green tea alternative.
  • Recommended for focused meditation, a moment of reflection

Earthy Pu-erh (2011; Everyday Ripe Pu-erh): Fully fermented tea from Menghai, Yunnan province, aged 12 years. Excellent as a non-alcoholic digestif with its earthy, sweet rice notes. No-fusseasy to brew, easy to drink, all day, every day.
  • Recommended for tea lovers who want an easy-to-brew, easy-to-drink non-alcohol digestif tea

Fuding White (2012; Everyday Aged White): In Fuding, Fujian Province, they say, "one-year tea, three-year medicine, seven-year treasure,"about their white tea. This 11-year-old handcrafted tea from Fuding is treasured for its medicinal values and its flavor profile by tea connoisseurs. It's sweet and smooth with notes of flower, honey, fruit, and a hint of herbs. Great as a black tea alternative.
  • Recommended for tea lovers who love bold, sweet, and floral flavors AND want the health benefits of aged tea

Note: You can also brew these selections using a simple strainer. So this is a great tea to get you started if you are not familiar with Gaiwan or gongfu brewing.

    Good for My Novice Taste

The Everyday Aged White tea was a good choice both for my tight wallet & novice taste. It was an economical choice, and brewed up well in my tea strainer. I’d tried an aged black & a green in a Mansa Tea Tasting session a few years ago. My general tea bag or lose preference is black, the aged black Pu-erh was a bit too pungent for me at the time. This white was more my speed as I get used to it. I got at least 3 brews out of the first clump & probably could’ve done more, though in retrospect, I think I used more than 2 gr. With a little practice, I’ll also get better with the quick 5-sec. “washing” or awakening brew. I know “white tea” doesn’t brew “white,” but was surprised at how dark the brew was - maybe another indication of high leaf to water ratio.

    Hi John,

We're glad that you've applied what you learned from our tea tasting session a few years ago!

Your white tea was brewing darker as our white teas are aged white teas. White teas brew darker and sweeter as they age.

Feel free to reach out to concierge@mansatea.com if you have any questions! Thank you for your review!

    Everyday aged tea

The tea has a nice flavour - I taste it smoked (maybe it is not correct), it surprised me, but very fine taste.

It's wonderful to hear that you've enjoyed the flavor of our aged tea. Tea tasting is a highly personal experience, and everyone's palate is unique, so there's no "correct" way to taste it. Your description of a smoky note in the tea is interesting, as different people often perceive various flavor profiles in aged teas. We're delighted that you found this surprising and fine in taste.
